QR Code 101

A QR Code (Short for “Quick Response”) is a sort of intelligent bar code. Using a smart phone equipped with a Bar Code scanner app, you can scan the code, which will in turn direct you to a specific website.  (This example to the left is set to direct you to BostonResidentialRE.com.)

What you will need....First, you need a smart phone equipped with a camera (iPhone, Blackberry, Android, etc...)

Then, you will also need a QR Code application (App) to translate the code your scanning.  Look in your phones "App Store" for a “Bar Code Scanner”.  They tend to be free, and there is usually a selection of different ones to choose from. Some allow you to scan the more common traditional bar codes for the purposes of price comparison as well.  Be careful NOT to download anything harmful.

Because there are so many different apps for the different phones, I googled the words "QR Code Reader" and came up this one.
It's fairly easy to use and works for what I need it for, but you may want to use something different. Once you have a bar code app, try scanning the QR code above right from your computer monitor.

Though they have been around for a while, the popularity of QR Codes is on the rise, and you will likely start to notice them in stores, magazines, on advertisements, and all sorts of other creative places...

Just one of the many things I do to sell your home will be to create a custom URL just for your home.  With that web address, I will create your own QR Code and post it to yard signs, print advertising, property flyer's, emails and other marketing means to get your homes vital information into those tech savvy buyers easily and quickly.
