How can I find out what homes are selling for in a given neighborhood?
In most areas, home sales are a matter of public record… you can get the information you want about recent sales, including price by calling or visiting the county Records of Deeds.
An easier way is to ask your local real estate agent/broker. He or she can give you a little more “in depth” information other than just price and square footage. If you're interested in a particular home or condo, a Realtor may also be able to provide you with a list of comparables that are roughly the same size, price and age as the home you're considering on buying or perhaps even selling.
